Stress is something that happens each and everyday for most people. From mild to extreme, we all deal with problems. Whether your dealing with major changes or small things that have been adding up you need to get ahold of your emotions, because those emotions can be harmful to your health.

First you have to remember that it's not the incident or the cause of your stress that is usually the problem, it is all about what you do emotionally that matters most. For example lets say you wake up late. Then, when you get out of bed, you hit your head. While going to the kitchen to grab some coffee and spill it all over yourself and have to change. You run into traffic on your way to work and once there, reports or projects aren't done that should have been.

You may consider this a really bad day and you could dwell on it and expect the rest of the day to be the same or you could look at each individual piece and you would have to realize these incidents are an extremely small set of events that could have gone better but it's really not as bad as you may have thought.

Rather than risking your health and being unhappy for the rest of the day, you should try to do your best to relax, breathe and focus on how the rest of the day can be better. Often we cause many of our own frustrations simply by hanging on to the old frustrations. If you get really angry about something, you will generally lose focus for awhile.

Have you ever gotten mad about something and maybe thrown your books or another item on the coffee or kitchen table and then you were so busy being mad you did not see the cup full of liquid that has now spilled all over the floor and your now twice as upset and you become even more careless and you drop something else? I have and then you blame it on a bad day?

Have you ever driven with someone who agitates you and they are talking and talking and you are getting more and more agitated and you are nearly in an accident because of the distractions and look more stress is added to the plate. Have you ever talked yourself from a ledge, not literally of course, have you been so stressed and you or someone else calmed you down. This is what you need to do everyday.

Do you really want to be upset, wouldn't you rather be happy and light? You can. It just takes practice. Each time you start to feel the stress build up, stop, breathe, relax and ask your self is this really worth being upset about. Most of the time the answer will be no.
